Learn from the experts: Menopause and Self-Care event comes to the Isle of Wight

Last updated:

Stefanie Oliphant from Menopause IOW shares details of this event taking place on Friday afternoon/evening at Quay Arts. Ed

If you are a menopausal, living on the Isle of Wight, and looking for ideas on how to get your S.H.I.T together (Self care, Happiness, Inner peace and Time) then this is for you.

This event will be the first of many opportunities to discover different ways to increase your self-care regime.

Self-care is not selfish
It’ll be an evening to indulge yourself, learn that self-care is not being selfish, it can be even more important when you are a menopausal and what better time to take a good long hard look at yourself and how you look after yourself for once.

The event features talks and demonstrations from six speakers.

Zoryna O’Donnel is an experienced coach, trainer and will be covering mindworks4wellbeing®. You will learn about the mind-body connection, conscious and unconscious minds, attitude of curiosity and some other simple yet very effective methods which you can use as and when needed. You will also have an opportunity to experience different applications of a visualisation technique which may help you manage the symptoms of menopause and enhance your overall wellbeing.

Hannah from Relax Isle of Wight has been a mobile holistic therapist for over 20 years and will talk about how looking after ourselves is as important as looking after everyone else. She’ll also be leading a short relaxation and self massage session to leave you feeling calm and ready for all that life entails.

Anne from Create Harmony is a Zen and Restorative Yoga teacher and a Meditation and Mindfulness teacher/coach. During her talk you will learn how to ease tension, calm the body and mind and reduce stress through breathing techniques, mindfulness, meditation, relaxation and gentle movement. Mindfulness encourages us to let go of self-criticism and bring a little kindness into our day, allowing us to increase feelings of self-worth.

Jo-Anne is a Personal Trainer, Yoga and Pilates teacher on the Island. Jo-Anne will be talking about Hypopressives. A demonstration of the postures and breathing technique will be ongoing during her talk by her assistant Ruth. Hypopressives can help with core/pelvic floor, posture, health and wellness and lung capacity. The results are amazing, it takes regular commitment, but this is less than 15 mins a day.

Marianne is a fitness and wellbeing professional specialising in women’s health and menopause. Marianne will be talking about the health and longevity benefits of cold water immersion, especially for women in midlife and during menopause. She is a cold water therapist, open water swimming coach and dips in the sea all year round.

Kerryn is the owner and coach at Steinmetz Pilates and Wellness Ltd. Menopause is a time of change in one’s life and body, however it shouldn’t mean the cessation of things you love and enjoy doing. Kerryn will present an intro to her 16 week Pilates and exercise-based one-to-one course, focusing on improving your pelvic floor health, and exercises and adaptations tailored to your unique personal meno-experience.
