This from Paul Carter. Ed
We live both on the Island and on the mainland.
During Covid we have watched the infection and hospitalisation rates in both locations and taken the threat seriously.
Some of that time the Island had very low rates, and when that changed many people blamed tourists and “second homers”.
Pinged after ferry crossing
We came over two weeks ago on Red Funnel. It wasn’t very busy and we sat in the dog-friendly lounge and didn’t use the cafe or any other crowded space.
Four days later we got “pinged”. We had to have two days isolation and a PCR test which took two days to be processed; which cost us a birthday celebration.
Complacency is the problem
Nobody on that ferry that we observed, except us, used a face covering. The staggered return to vehicles has been abandoned.
But someone within two meters of us for fifteen minutes was carrying Covid.
Tourists? Second-homers? Doubt it. Complacency is the problem.
