This from Neil Palmer, Waterloo Ontario, Canada. Ed
I’m surprised that the improvements at Ryde Esplanade station don’t include improved disabled/step-free access to the Hoverport.
With platform two now unused and the track disconnected it would be a fairly easy and relatively inexpensive job to extend platform two out over the unused track so passengers could exit either side of the train.
At the south end of platform two have a gently sloping ramp to a pathway running 25-30m over the unused trackbed and exit by the current footbridge.
Put up a chain link fence between the pathway and the active track and you’re done.
More accessible and faster link
This would not only help the disabled and those with prams, it would be a much quicker walk for others to and from the Hoverport.
Has this ever been suggested in the past?
