Letter: The truth behind Tory promises on taxation and public service improvements

OnTheWight always welcomes a Letter to the Editor to share with our readers – unsurprisingly they don’t always reflect the views of this publication. If you have something you’d like to share, get in touch and of course, your considered comments are welcome below.

This from Paula Winthrop, Godshill. Ed

Isn’t it funny how Conservative politicians consistently try and convince us they are something they are not.

We are the party of low taxes! No you are not, taxation has never been higher.

We are stopping the boats! No you are not, there’s never been more people crossing the channel.

We are reducing NHS waiting lists! No you are not, NHS waiting lists have never been higher.

We are bring down prices! No you are not, inflation is still rising at 2%.

Here on the Island Bob Seely is promoting himself as the ‘local champion’! No you are not, you failed to deliver the ‘Island Deal’.

Tories have worked out that most people are stupid. If you tell them the same lie over and over again, they will eventually believe you. It’s Orwellian.

If we genuinely care about our Country, then it’s down to all of us on July the 4th not to be disillusioned and be beaten into submission, but to get out and vote to stop the rot.
