As a film that has a simple premise and fascination which is heavily inspired by comic book superheroes, ‘Kick-Ass’ does achieve a level of enthusiasm almost from after the introduction of main characters.
Gradually, as a story that develops with almost natural ease and demonstrates a realistic approach to understanding how almost comedic someone would appear in a costume without actual super-powers to deal with a bad situation, ‘Kick-Ass’ changes in direction and reveals with entertainment, an edge that is more enthusiastic.
Pure entertainment
Although the parallels of evil existing and good developing to combat and fight against it, become the driving force of the entire film, the level of madness that increases throughout ‘Kick-Ass’ holds openly to the audience sheer and pure entertainment at its core.
What is surprising is that director Matthew Vaughn managed to cast a film so expertly and combines intense co-ordination within scenes that elevates ‘Kick Ass’ into one of the greatest American cinematic experiences for a long, long, time.
Daring, inspired and uniquely hilarious
However, as a study on heroics within cinema, ‘Kick-Ass’ achieves momentum through scenes that will either be noted for high intelligence, or massively admired because in effect the entertainment is turned up to such ridiculous levels.
Ironically enough, for a film that enthrals and seems to understand exactly what it is that is so appealing about comic book stories and characters become so heroic, so incredibly fast, ‘Kick-Ass’ is daring, inspired and uniquely hilarious. Yet also reflected are scenes of incredible cinematic power. Wow!
