Two anglers received help from Cowes RNLI lifeboat late last night after they discovered their small motorboat had run out of fuel.
The 16 foot workboat was in the Solent, some 500 metres off Norris Castle, East Cowes, when they found they had no fuel to return to Cowes.
One of the fishermen rowed ashore to get petrol, but found nothing open. It was then that the call for help was made to Solent Coastguards.
The lifeboat towed the motorboat to Shepards Wharf Marina.
