Appeal For Information After Suspicious Behaviour In Winford

Police tapeDetectives are investigating a report of a burglary in Winford on the outskirts of Sandown on the Isle of Wight.

A woman asleep at her home in Forest Way was woken up at around 2.40am on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 by the sound of a car alarm.

Handbag stolen from kitchen
She discovered someone had been inside her home and that her handbag was missing from the kitchen table.

The bag contained bank cards and personal identification. Several household and car keys were also reported stolen after further enquiries.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Jessica Fleming of Isle of Wight CID said: “We’ve conducted forensic and house-to-house enquiries in Forest Way and I’d like to thank local residents for their assistance.

“This appeal is to the wider community for information about any suspicious behaviour people may have noticed in the Winford area recently. We would like to hear about anybody or any vehicles that appeared unusual or out-of-place.”
