Lights of Love services commence

The Earl Mountbatten Hospice’s annual Lights of Love services bring together prayers of dedication, hymns, inspirational readings and the lighting of candles to commemorate lives and loves past.

These services take place in Island communities throughout December, and offer a time of reflection and pause where we remember the people that have meant so much to us throughout the years.

The full list of services is below:

  • Thurs 29th Nov – Ventnor – St Catherine’s Church – 7pm.
  • Wed 5th Dec – Brighstone – St Mary the Virgin church as part of the Christmas tree Festival – 7pm.
  • Thurs 6th Dec – Wootton – Cedars Inn – 6pm.
  • Thurs 6th Dec – Newchurch – Pointer Inn 6pm with Shanklin Town Brass Band.
  • Fri 7th Dec – Seaview – St Peters Church – 7pm.
  • Fri 7th Dec – Newport – Hospice service, Newport Minister – 7pm.
  • Fri 7th Dec – Sandown – Christ Church – 7pm.
  • Sat 8th Dec – Bembridge – Parade starts Lane End Shops 5pm then to Church for Carol Service then to War Memorial for switching on of lights. Free mince pies and mulled wine in Church Hal after parade.
  • Sun 9th Dec – Brading – St Marys Church – 5.30pm.
  • Sun 9th Dec- St Helens – The Vine Inn – 7pm.
  • Mon 10th Dec – Rookley – On the green with Shanklin Town Brass band then on to the Methodist Hall for refreshments – 6.30pm.
  • Thurs 13th Dec – Arreton – The White Lion – 6pm.
  • Fri 14th Dec- Cowes – Bottom of Market Hill outside Waterside Pub – 7pm.
  • Fri 14th Dec – Ryde – All Saints Church – 7pm.
  • Sat 15th Dec – Lake – Service opposite The Stag Inn, Sandown Road around the Christmas Tree – 12.30pm
  • Sat 15th Dec – Yarmouth – In the Square with the Salvation Army, Slipshod Singers and school children – 6pm.
  • Sun 16th Dec – Freshwater – St Agnes Church – 6pm.
  • Mon 17th Dec – Shanklin – The Crab Inn – 6.30pm.

Make a dedication
If you would like to make a dedication in the Lights of Love Book of Remembrance please contact the Fundraising Office on (01983) 528989.

All names commemorated will be taken in the Book of Remembrance to the Hospice Lights of Love Service on Friday 7th December in Newport Minster. The Service starts at 7pm.

Everyone who makes a dedication in memory of a loved one will receive a card and personal star photo frame keepsake to hang on your tree, or the tree at the Hospice, a unique and personal ‘Light of Love’.
