It’s not everyday you open the lid of a wheelie bin and discover a live badger curled up inside.
This is what happened to Richard from Green Man Isle of Wight Rubbish Removal today (Thursday). He was on his usual round collecting rubbish from holiday lettings when he discovered a badger trapped in a wheelie bin.
It appears the badger had somehow made its way into the wheelie bin via the raised garden, and after falling in couldn’t get out again.
As shown in the video below, animal-lover Richard was keen to help the little fella on its way.
Richard told OnTheWight,
“Whilst collecting waste for Holiday lettings across the Island we often find strange things in the bins left over from holiday maker’s parties etc. But never something quite as lively as this.
“I hope he gets over his hangover of sugary drinks, leftovers and whatever else he could find in there and made it back home safely.”

It’s not clear how long the badger had been trapped, but hopefully it won’t go back and try this trick again.
