Polling stations across the Isle of Wight opened this morning at 7am welcoming voters for the 2013 local elections.
Ventnor East was reported to have been one of the busiest polling stations by 9.30am with a steady flow of voters taking part in the democratic process to select new county and town or parish councillors.
Previous turnout
It’ll be interesting to see what the turnout is like this year.
At the last local election in 2009, we saw a 39.81% turnout at the polls. It was a substantial drop from the 2005 election which saw a whopping 62.4% turnout.
How to vote
If you can’t find your polling card, don’t worry, just turn up at your nearest polling station, state your name and address and you’ll be able to vote.
