A family putting pots back together at Newport Roman Villa

Lots for families to see and do in Newport this Easter holiday

The Isle of Wight Heritage Service will be hosting two special family events to celebrate Newport’s Children’s Festival.

The Museum of Island History will open free of charge on Thursday 21st April, from 10am until 1pm.

Egg hunt
Hidden in the museum display cases and throughout the museum there will be a selection of different eggs to search for — not chocolate eggs, but images of eggs from the natural and historical world.

Visitors can also explore the new exhibition about the historic town of Newport. The display details the archaeology and social history of the town with photographs, paintings and artefacts.

Visit the Roman Villa for £1
On Friday 22nd April, from 10.30 until 2.30pm, families can visit Newport Roman Villa for just £1 per person.

The activity room will re-open for families to explore. They can make a mosaic, rebuild a pot or explore the replica Roman kitchen.

There will also be a seasonal photo hunt and the chance to explore the Roman remains, visit the garden and see the museum display.
