Many thanks to Isle of Wight entrepreneur Lyn Blackledge, who got in touch with VB last week to let us know about some exciting news.
Lyn, who runs a successful business from home, has made it through to the national finals of the Mumpreneur Of The Year Awards.
Lyn has been shortlisted for the Best Saleswoman Award. This category is open to those who run “the most deserving business centred around sales and offline revenue”.
Many of you will already know Lyn, who can be seen at most Island fairs and shows. For many years Lyn had been running a very successful children’s book business, despite the company she represented changing their direction and causing major upheaval, Lyn dealt with the change and got on with things.
She’s still selling books online and at shows and fairs, but now also sells green products too via Wikaniko.
Two possible awards
It’s Lyn’s determination to succeed against the odds that has placed her in the finals not only for the Best Saleswoman Award, but also giving her a chance to pick up the coveted The Inspirational Business Mum 2010.
However, the business challenges are not the only thing that has led to Lyn being shortlisted.
As well as running a business from home, Lyn has had to juggle work and home life, supporting her three children and grandchildren, coping with the death of her father and also of her children’s father.
Despite all this, Lyn still manages to help new team members who join her business, to build businesses of their own.
We’ll have to wait until the 18th September to find out whether Lyn comes home with the award. If you want to go along and support Lyn, tickets to the conference and awards ar just £20. It takes place at the Heart of England Conference in Warwickshire. Find out more by visiting their Website.
