If you’re over 18 and registered on the electoral roll, the time has come for you to make your decision at the polling station.
Over the past week or so, VB have strived to provide you with as much information needed to make your decision; 500 word manifestos from almost all the candidates; 100 character manifestos; live reporting from hustings and 18 Political Q&As via The Democracy Club (the remainder of which will be published before lunchtime today).
Reporting live from the count
As you would expect, VB will be reporting live from Medina Leisure Centre where the count takes place tonight/tomorrow morning.
The anticipated time for final results around 4-4.30am, although this may change through the course of the night.
How to place your vote
Polling stations around the Island (and country) have been open since 7am and you’ll have until 10pm tonight to make your vote.
Don’t worry if you’ve misplaced your polling card, we’re told by the council that you can just turn up and give your name and address (probably best to take a form of ID).
Isle of Wight Council Head of Democratic Services Chris Mathews said “Everyone on the Electoral Register has had a poll card printed and sent to them, however it’s not a necessity to have one to vote.
“Although it does help the process at polling stations, as long as you are on the Electoral Register then you can vote. Just arrive at a polling station and the people behind the desk will help.
“With the bank holiday it may be that some people are yet to receive their poll cards in the post or other people may’ve misplaced them, but if anyone has any questions then they are welcome to contact the council for information on 821000.”
