Congratulations to Manic Mechanics (and their tutors), a group of home-schooled young people from Isle of Wight who have been awarded 1st Place in the Class 2 Category of the Landrover National Schools 4×4 Challenge last week.
Representing the Island, they came away from the finals with two trophies; “Best Rookie Team” and the Class 2 Winner’s Cup, adding to the three trophies they’d already won at the Regional Final in Reading earlier this month.
The Isle of Wight team took fourth place out of 56 teams and third on the winch test managing to pull up 5.5 kg up a 40 degree slope.
The five young people making up team Manic Mechanics achieved 315 marks out of a total of 466.
This is a great achievement for the young people who did amazingly well against strong competition from other parts of the country.
