Wightlink Raiders go into their biggest weekend of the season three points clear at the top of the ENL after drawing both games over the last weekend.
On Saturday the Raiders picked up a point in a hard fought 3-3 draw away to reigning play off champions Bracknell Hornets.
Then on Sunday it was off to Essex for the second trip this season to old rivals Chelmsford Chieftains.
Despite going 3-0 up early in the game the Raiders were largely outplayed by a skilful Chieftains team who fought back to 3-3 before Dominic Hopkins scored a cracking goal from the blue line 3 minutes from the end to put the Raiders 4-3 up. But a determined Chelmsford side refused to give up the ghost and having pulled their netminder equalised with less than a minute left on the clock to tie the game up.
So two points from two trips to Chelmsford is a decent return for a team chasing the title and now the Raiders go into this Saturday’s return match at Ryde Arena on a 10 match unbeaten streak.
Bradley Watchorn and Jeremy Cornish both return to the team after missing Sunday’s game through suspension and illness.
Face off on Saturday is 6pm at Ryde Arena and fans are urged to turn up early for what should be the biggest crowd of the season so far.
