Not everyone checks their receipts, but given what happened on the Isle of Wight last night, perhaps we should get in to the habit.
A regular reader of VentnorBlog tells us that he went on a little shopping expedition to Newport. He paid and walked home as normal.
It was only when he get back home did he get a huge shock. His wife picked his debit card receipt out of his carrier bag and was somewhat taken aback.
£212,344.69!
The receipt read £212,344.69! He tells us that his wife thought he’d bought her
a new bungalow!
“I returned to the shop in haste; the error was soon rectified”, he told VB. Phew
We suspect he’s never moved so fast.
Quite how it was successfully charged in the first place remains a mystery.
