A new artist in residence takes their place at Quay Arts today, using the Learning Curve Gallery as their base.
The Medina Extended Schools Partnership in collaboration with Quay Arts and Medina High School welcome Chris Cudlip, who will be offering a range of workshops around the theme of Nomadic Life and Culture to invited schools during the month of March.
We understand that the ‘Medina Yurt’ will be the focus of the work, with workshops being held in and around the Yurt.
A special End of Show Celebration takes place in the Gallery on Saturday 27 March.
Podcasts from launch of the Medina Yurt
Last year when the yurt was launched at Medina High School, we spoke with Stephen Lines, Director of Art at the school about the project.
We also spoke with Christine Lines who was integral to the project. It’s a fascinating interview, as Christine is clearly highly knowledgeable on the subject.
Chris got in touch with us after the interview to point out that she’d got her dates mixed up and when saying that felt dates back to 5000 BC, it is in fact 500 BC, the remains at Pazyryk are about 2,500 years old.
