At the Isle of Wight Full Council meeting tonight (Wednesday), it was revealed that the Medina Studios project “is moving ahead” and a “firm proposal expected in April”.
Councillor Nick Stuart (LibDem) requested an update on the plans for film studios to be built at Kingston Marine Park on the banks of the River Medina, East Cowes.
Jordan: Met with proposers
Leader of the Isle of Wight council, Phil Jordan, explained that he’d met with the proposers around six weeks ago at Building 41 to hear more about their plans.
He explained those behind the project, Duncan Heath (Co-Chairman of Independent Talent Group), David Godfrey (Former Director of International Operations of the Pinewood Group) and Neil Blewett, had a target of April 2024 to present a firm proposal to take on the site.
Jones-Evans: The “project is moving ahead”
Councillor Julie Jones-Evans offered a written response to Councillor Stuart, explaining that there were some commercial sensitivities, but that the “project is moving ahead and it is very exciting for the Isle of Wight”.
We’ll update you once we know more – but in the meantime, this does sound like very good news for the Island.
