Several VB readers have been in touch over the past couple of days concerned about a melting road surface.
The stretch of new road between Blackwater and Merstone (by Bardon Vectis) was showing signs of melting earlier in the week and today is reported to have whole clumps of road surface missing.
It’s become “a black sticky mess” one reader told us.
We got in touch with the council yesterday to find out more and are awaiting a response from Highways.
We understand that workmen are working on tackling the problem as we write.
A similar thing happened in St Lawrence a couple of years ago during a very hot period immediately after a new road surface was laid.
Fingers crossed it gets sorted and doesn’t cause any major problems for drivers.
