Cllr Karl Love shares this brief update from yesterday’s showcase at St Mary’s Hospital for Mental Health Awareness Week. In his own words. Ed
It’s 21 years since the Mental Health Foundation first started ‘Mental Health Awareness Week’.
The UK recognises tackling loneliness as a priority. And was the first to appoint a Minister for Loneliness and to publish a strategy on tackling loneliness.
Mental Health Awareness Week this year raises awareness of the impact of loneliness and practical steps we can take to address it.
An event took place at St Mary’s yesterday (Thursday) to raise awareness of the support services available on our Island and some of the many friendship groups were in attendance.
The event was such a great success with many people attending and a positive vibe.
Also attending were Cllr Richard Quigley, along with High Sheriff, Kay Marriott.
