Update Monday: Police advise us that Mr Simpson has been found safe and well. Ed
The following was received from the police yesterday, as we’ve not had an update, we can only assume that the gentleman is still missing. Ed
Police on the Isle of Wight are concerned for the welfare of an 87-year old man who has gone missing from his home in Ryde.
Frederick Simpson lives in Trinity Street, Ryde, but was last seen leaving the Kasbah pub in Ryde just before mid-day on Friday, February, 26, where he had stayed overnight on Thursday.
Although he is fit and well for his age, Mr Simpson’s disappearance is completely out of character and even more worrying, he has not been in contact with anyone.
He does not drive and had a very small amount of cash with him. He is thought to still be on the Island, although investigating officers are not ruling out that he might be on the mainland.
He is described as:
* White
* White to greyish hair that is very light.
* He was wearing dark thick rimmed square shape glasses, flat checked cap beige to brown in colour
* He had a dark green single breasted jacket, a red/dark burgundy round neck e knitted jumper with horizontal patterns. He also wore a shirt underneath the jumper and wore beige to light brown colour trousers with dark brown to black men’s shoes.
If anyone has seen Mr Simpson or knows where he might be, they are asked to contact Ryde police station on 0845 045 45 45 or the Crimestoppers charity line on 0800 555 111.
