This time of year thoughts turn to Mother’s Day — and if they’re not, you’re going to get your bottom spanked on Sunday — and the inevitable connection with Mother’s Day is flowers.
There’s a Web site called The Nag, whose mission is to help us all live more thoughtful lives, by providing gentle nags on an infrequent basis.
With Mother’s Day around the corner, they’ve turned their attention to how we can all best serve our local communities and reduce carbon emissions by buying flowers that are grown Locally, Organically and within Season – like snowdrops, or looking around some of the beautiful flowers around town, mini-daffodils (sure they’re called something else really).
They’ve gathered quite a bit of background information about the flower trade and it’s impact on where they’re grown.
There’s a quite a few suggestions on their site under Guilt free flowers, including a great idea of giving a fruit tree — giving your Mum free fruit for years to come.
Oh … and enjoy the day … don’t end up feeling _too_ guilty about it.
