A popular road safety course run by the Isle of Wight Council for motorcyclists is returning.
‘Better Riding’ is a short course designed to improve rider’s skills and help them identify and anticipate hazards on the road. It also teaches riders how to react to hazards using advanced riding methods.
The course is starting on Tuesday 17 July between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.
Open to license holders
‘Better Riding’ is open to anyone with a full motorcycle license and costs £15 per person which includes an assessment ride. The course is based on the Advanced Rider’s Handbook and provides those taking part with theory covering control, observation, cornering and overtaking.
The final theory session includes a basic first aid talk from a medical professional who will explain what to do if you are the first on the scene of an accident. A practical assessment ride conducted by highly advanced motorcyclists is arranged for each rider on a one-to-one basis at a mutually convenient time.
First course in Ryde
The first course will take place at Ryde Fire Station and runs over three consecutive weeks.
