There will be cheers all round in St Catherine’s Street (and surrounding roads) today, when they hear the news that thanks to pressure from Ventnor East County Councillor and Mayor of Ventnor, Chris Welsford, no parking spaces will be removed from St Catherine’s Street as was previously proposed by the Isle of Wight council IWC).
Cllr Welsford has stated at many town council meetings that he would fight on behalf of the residents and true to his word, he’s come up trumps.
He tells us that Edward Giles has today signed off the delegated decision and confirmed to Cllr Welsford that he has “declined to confirm the proposed parking restrictions in St Catherine’s Street.”
This will be welcome news to all those who objected to the proposals, be that through letters to the IWC, signing the petition and or making their views known to their ward councillor.
Congratulations to all involved, this is definitely a success for Ventnor.
