The night before St Valentine’s Day, on Friday 13th February, you can see Sarah and the Island Storytellers in action in ‘The Forest of Chance encounters’ at Bargeman’s Rest.
‘The Forest of Chance encounters’ (aka ‘She gave me pizza with Murder in her Heart’) is a performance of five love stories by London based storyteller, Sarah Rundle.
But there are Lurve Stories and there are Anti-Lurve Stories. Sarah’s show cunningly combines successful love, unsuccessful love, and run-for-the-hills-they’re-a-psycho love.
Not all the stories will end happily: prison, pistols, poison, and skulls will feature, there are five narrators, (two of them dead), and not every handsome hero gets his just desserts.
Accompanied by live music
Local musician, Paul Armfield will be starting and finishing the evening with suitable songs and music for a Valentine’s weekend event.
The Island Storytellers are delighted to be hosting this event.

One-day workshop
This weekend brings a chance for you to develop your language skills and enhance your performance technique.
London-based storyteller and actor, Sarah Rundle, will be holding a story-telling workshop on Saturday between 10am and 3pm.
Although the workshop will be aimed primarily at adults, older children welcome too.
About the tutor
Sarah trained in community storytelling in South Cheshire, in acting at Drama Studio London. Over the last seven years she’s performed at a diverse range of venues, from museums and theatres, to pubs, cafés, and even a Saxon longhouse.
She’s also been involved with a national tour of her Gawain and the Green Knight show; Working with storytellers from five international festivals, as part of the Grundtvig Programme; A support slot with Perrier award-winning comedian Milton Jones as well as Kamishibai Storytelling for the Wellcome Trust and the Geffrye Museum.
