One group who might be pleased to hear the latest decision taken by the Ventnor Town Council over the Jazz festival may be the Musician’s Union.
The Musician’s Union tell us that they are considering taken action against the organisers, Ward and Snellen if unpaid debts are not dealt with.
They provided VentnorBlog with this statement at the end of last week.
We are concerned that the 2009 festival is being planned without all of this year’s acts reportedly having been paid, and the MU will be looking into this further with a view to taking action if required.
We’ll be asking the MU for a statement on the news that the Winter Gardens have voted unanimously not to deal with Ward and Snellen and will let you have it as soon as we hear back.
For those concerned that this decision means there will be no more jazz festivals, fear not. We understand that there are several people who are very keen to continue the jazz festivals in Ventnor and we’ll be bringing you more news on that soon.
