New Carnival, a long-standing arts council ‘national portfolio organisation’ (NPO), is calling for passionate individuals to join its board of directors.
With a mission to engage communities, foster a sense of pride, and deliver exciting arts projects, New Carnival is looking for diverse voices and skilled professionals to guide the organisation as it continues its work in outdoor arts and education.
For over ten years, New Carnival has played a vital role in bringing people together through inclusive and creative experiences.

About New Carnival
The organisation’s team, which took over from the founding members three years ago, continues to build upon the original goals of creating inclusive arts opportunities for everyone. New Carnival runs outreach workshops for the Isle of Wight Council’s Adult and Community Learning Service, partnering with local institutions including Ryde Town Council, Isle of Wight Museums and Schools, IW Natural Landscapes, Schools, and the Isle of Wight Cultural Education Partnership.
Through its signature events and community-based projects, New Carnival fosters a sense of place and belonging, enriching lives through creativity and collaboration.
The role
This voluntary board position requires commitment to attend four quarterly board meetings per year, along with approximately 5-8 hours per month for various duties. These may include assisting with long-term strategy, fundraising, event attendance, and community engagement. Board members are also encouraged to participate in research, stewarding, and support the overall direction of New Carnival. In addition to meetings, New Carnival offers networking opportunities, training courses, and the occasional trips.
New Carnival is committed to supporting its board members, offering reimbursement for travel costs and providing refreshments during meetings and events.
