The New Carnival Company Launches With Seven Great Projects (podcast)

The New Carnival Company had their official launch party on Friday.

The sun shone down on Brading Roman Villa where the event was being hosted, but even if it had been grey and miserable outside, the colourful atmosphere inside would have more than made up for it.

The team presented their forthcoming projects, explaining how each of them will work.

“Not just putting on a silly hat
and dancing down the street”

Community engagement seemed to be the order of the day, along with a desire to challenge peoples’ views of what Carnival means.

There are some excellent projects planned, such as the forthcoming Kite festival, where festival-goers can learn how make kites and watch the experts fly theirs on the top of Bembridge Down on 16th June.

There’s loads more detail of the other projects on the new Website for The New Carnival Company, in the meantime check out our interview with Frankie Goldspink from the launch. [audio:http://otw-audio.s3.amazonaws.com/frankie-goldspink-new-carnival-co.mp3]
