An isle of Wight resident has just published her latest book and hopes that royalties from it will go to support the Autism Society.

Veritable thrill of Exactitude Book Cover

The Veritable Thrill of Exactitude by Mandi Martin is a novel set in a post-apocalyptic world caused by a man who desires only perfection drawn from a warped religious lust.

Conflict between heart and duty
In doing so, he has also torn open a veil that separates worlds, causing tension between those who dwell there.

Mandi explains,

“It focuses on his son, Donovan, who is pulled between loyalty to his father and the logic of his veil-dwelling guard, Kenway, openly gay, but rather sensitive about it, he conceals his inner feelings with an overly-optimistic and excitable attitude.

“Choices and reality become vital as danger grows and even Kenway is conflicted between his heart and his duty as he becomes closer to those who want to end the President’s rule and try and restore order.”

Admitting she has a fondness for strange titles, Mandi has published another four books, which you can find on her Amazon profile.

Writing was a coping method
Mandi told News OnTheWight that having Aspergers, along with health issues, led to her passion for writing. She explains,

“I lost my twenties to hospitals, when I found I had an incurable lung disease. Writing was a coping method and I also hope to give some encouragement to others who feel their health and lot in life make it impossible to succeed.

“I like to put my emotions and some of my problems into my characters as a way of coping and to make them, I hope, seem more real. “

A chance for people with hidden disabilities to be heard
She finished by saying,

“My aim is also to give some awareness to certain issues and give some royalties to help related causes. This one will hopefully benefit the Autism Society.

“I hope to give some inspiration to people who feel conditions can hold them back. I sometimes feel that people with hidden disabilities are not always given a chance to be heard and I hope one day to aid changing that.”

You can buy Mandi’s book directly from the publisher, Pegasus, or via Amazon.
