One to take note of if you drive in Newport. This in from the council, in their own words. Ed
Motorists are being advised of a new road layout currently being installed at Church Litten in Newport which is designed to reduce congestion.
Presently, vehicles that go to either Morrisons or Marks and Spencer use a single lane to enter the shopping complex. This can lead to congestion during busy times.
Three dedicated lanes
The new road layout will have three dedicated lanes for traffic, with one taking vehicles to the town centre, the second for cars going to Morrisons and the third for traffic heading to Marks and Spencer or Morrisons petrol station.
The works to complete the new road layout are scheduled to be completed later this week on Friday 4th May, although they are weather dependant as new lines need to be painted.
Road remains open
The existing traffic signals will also be slightly remodelled as part of the new layout and this part of the work will take place next week.
However none of the works will require temporary lights and the road remains open as normal.
