New Southern Vectis App simplifies bus travel for Isle of Wight’s under 19s

Southern Vectis revolutionises under 19s bus ticketing on Isle of Wight.

The local bus operator is phasing out its old smartcard, theKey, due to outdated technology.

A new, simpler ticket-buying method is proving popular among young passengers on the Island.

Southern Vectis general manager, Richard Tyldsley, says the previous verification process deterred some younger customers.

The chance to win a year’s free travel
The new system allows users to verify their eligibility before purchasing their first ticket.

Under 19s who download the App and complete verification by 31st May 2023 have the chance to win a year’s free travel.

The verification process is straightforward, requiring users to upload their ID and a selfie, with approval usually granted within 24 hours.

Positive response from those switching
The company is delighted by the positive response to the new technology from those switching from theKey.

Parents and guardians can buy tickets for their children and young adults via the Website or App and send them directly to their child’s App account.

Additional features
The App offers many additional features, such as live bus tracking, journey planning, and personalisation options.

Parents need not worry about data usage, as tickets only require wifi connection once every 72 hours after activation.
