On Friday afternoon last week, local residents turned out for the grand unveiling of a new village sign.
This fantastic piece of work, designed by Isle of Wight artist, Dave Badman, has been erected at Donkey Bank, Madeira Road, the entrance to the village.
It depicts scenes from the shoreline, the old church, carp and ducks from the pond and was funded by the Bonchurch Community Association.
Young and old
The oldest and youngest residents of the village had the honour of unveiling the new sign.
87 year old Gordon Wheeler, a former photographer for Arthur Dixon postcards was joined by five year old Henry Curzon. Watch out for audio podcasts with them both in due course.
The heavy rain that had fallen all morning, managed to stop for the unveiling, hampering only the planned delicate fall of the silk veil.
