If you’ve been into Newport today, you will have seen that roadworks are taking place in parts of Newport bus station. This is expected to continue for the next four weeks and will affect routes 1, 2, 3, 6 and 8. Below are the full details from Southern Vectis. Ed
Some remedial road works are being carried out to damaged tarmac in some areas of Newport bus station. This work will be carried out over a four week period and there will be changes to the bus stands that certain routes depart and terminate from.
From 9am on Monday 7th January all Route 1 buses will depart and terminate from Stand A (adjacent to the Next retail store and currently used by routes 2, 3, 6 and 8) for approximately one week.
All route 2, 3, 6 and 8 buses will depart and terminate for the next four weeks from a temporary bus stop located in Church Litten opposite Morrisons supermarket car park.
Whilst the actual work may only take a couple of days the new tarmac requires several days to harden before heavy vehicles are driven across it.
A further two bus stands will be affected as the work progresses and details will be posted in due course.
