It looks like the Isle of Wight branch of Cheltenham & Gloucester in Newport High Street will become a branch of the Co-operative Bank, if a proposed sale of branches across the UK goes through.
This morning the details of which of the Cheltenham & Gloucester branches will be sold off as part of the deal with Lloyds Banking Group emerged.
It’s all down to the deal that saw Lloyds bank buy HBOS, which, in turn, led to European regulators insisting on Lloyds selling off branches.
632 branches of Lloyds TSB and Cheltenham and Gloucester have been listed for sale across the UK.
Thanks to Paddy for bringing this to our attention.
