Newport FC have launched a crowdfunder to support the club’s extra activities this season.
Steve Rackett, Chairman of Newport Supporters Trust, who are the majority owners of the club said,
“Newport FC have the same operating costs as the Island’s two other Wessex League teams, but without a home ground we don’t have the match day bar and catering takings and in addition, we are making contributions towards the cost of the groundshare.
“We have therefore launched the Crowdfunder and income from these donations will allow us to support activities across the club for the rest of the season. This isn’t about keeping the club afloat, but trying to do all the extra activities that any Wessex League club should be doing to keep us competitive now and in the future.”
The club received no income for vacating St George’s Park, which has been owned by developers South Coast Leisure since 2005.
Rackett: Seeking commercial sponsorship
Mr Rackett added,
“In addition, we are looking for some extra commercial sponsorship.
“Several local businesses have already backed the club this season, and we would like to thank Crocker Street Tyres and MOT, Island Car Centre, Knight Tree Care, Houghton Ltd, Vectis Scaffolding, Odessa Tackle, Capital Jewellers, While U Wait Services, Live Wire, Wight Vehicle Repairs, Love Running, Webb Autohomes, Carisbrooke Fish Bar, The Quirky Tea Pot, WH Brading, MCM Construction, Ascott Bathrooms Plumbing and Tiling, and IOW Glass Limited for their support.”
Businesses who wish to support the club should contact Mr Rackett via email: [email protected]
Community initiatives
