The subject of dog fouling has for quite a while been a hot topic of discussion around the Isle of Wight, as well as many parts of the UK.
Responsible dog owners are anxious not to be thought of as those who let their dogs mess on the pavement, while those who’ve experienced it, especially if directly, are very irate about it.
Indeed last week we published a Letter To The Editor on a related subject that raised 30 comments.
Council says None
We asked the council’s comms team last Wednesday, how many successful prosecutions IWC carried in the year 2010-11 for dog fouling. Finally we got an answer today – “During 2010 – 11 there were no prosecutions undertaken by IW Council.”
It wasn’t clear to us if this meant no prosecutions were undertaken, or no successful ones. We quickly got a reply saying it was ‘None undertaken.’ Clear enough.
As a follow up, we’ve asked the council comms office to let us know 1) when the last attempted prosecution was 2) when the last successful prosecution was. Will let you know when we hear.
