Today, the list of nominated candidates was released by the IW Council for both the Parish and County elections.
Originally the IW Council put out a Timetable of Proceedings saying that the list of nominated candidates for the up-coming IW Council elections (or “Publication of Statements of Persons Nominated” in official speak), would be released “noon on Monday 11 May.”
This date is further backed up by the date on the now-public document, which has “Dated Monday 11 May 2009” at the bottom of each page.
The press released issued on 21 April said it was going to be released on Friday 8 May 2009.
Not sure why or when it was changed to being released today, but it looks like the Returning Officer and his team have really pushed the boat out to get all of the details out this quickly, especially since the nominations closed at 4pm yesterday.
UPDATE: A VB reader has contacted us after speaking to the Returning Officer, the dates given in the original timetable were ‘at the latest dates,’ so they’ve brought it all in before the deadline. Blimey!
