St Blasius Shanklin Church of England Primary Academy continues to be a good school.
Following an inspection at the end of February and early March, Ofsted Inspectors found that despite the school having been through a turbulent time, with many changes in staff, “the relationships between adults and pupils are strong in this caring school”.
The behaviour of pupils in lessons was found to be “exemplary” and outside class, pupils are polite and respectful.
The inspector remarked that the new executive principal, with strong support from the trust, is moving the school forward. The full report highlights the other achievements.
Augustus: Incredibly proud of our pupils, staff and the Trust
Executive Principal, Alex Augustus, told News OnTheWight,
“We are delighted to have received a positive outcome in our recent Ofsted inspection. The report confirms that St Blasius Shanklin Church of England Primary Academy continues to be a good school.
“I am incredibly proud of our pupils, staff and the Diocese of Chichester Academy Trust who have worked tirelessly to maintain the high standards of education and care that we offer.”
He went on to say,
“The report highlights the strong relationships between adults and pupils in our ‘caring school’, where pupils feel ‘safe and confident’. The report also highlights that our children; show ‘exemplary’ behaviour in lessons; are ‘eager to learn and are attentive’; ‘are inquisitive and want to find answers’ and are ‘developing a love for reading.’
“We are also thrilled to see that our efforts to improve the quality of education are paying off, with leaders introducing new programmes to support pupils’ reading, ensuring that; ‘staff are experts in teaching phonics’; that ‘across the school, attitudes to learning are strong’ and ‘children in early years get off to a strong start.’”
Augustus: I would like to personally thank all the pupils and staff
Mr Augustus added,
“It is also pleasing that the report highlights the work of our SENDCO ensuring ‘that pupils receive the support they need’ and that ‘teachers adapt tasks skilfully, when necessary, but have the same high expectations for pupils with SEND as they do for the rest of the pupils in the class.’
“We are also extremely proud of our safeguarding arrangements, which are given the ‘highest priority’, acknowledging our ‘safeguarding team’ who are ‘determined that every support is given to ensure the safest outcomes for every child.’
“I would like to personally thank all the pupils and staff who contributed to this fantastic outcome, and we look forward to continuing our work together to make St Blasius Shanklin Church of England Primary Academy an outstanding school in the future.”
