Next month the Isle of Wight Film Festival will be returning to Ventnor to showcase films from around the world.
Founded by Isle of Wight film-maker Bruce Webb, this year the Festival programme runs from Tuesday 11th to Saturday 15th August.
Proud to be a sponsor
Once again OnTheWight is proud to sponsor the Feature Film Category of the competition. Prizes will also be awarded for the Best Human Rights, Best Environmental and Best Isle of Wight short.
This year the feature film section includes films in and out of the competition and some are even going to screened outdoors (behind St Wilfrid’s Church).
Watch great films and meet the Directors
Bruce, along with Claire Speight, Georgia Lakey and Sandy Ciccognani have been busy for several months pulling the festival together and shortlisting the films.
The Festival is based at The Sacred Cinema on Victoria Street, Ventnor, and the team invite Islanders and visitors to immerse themselves in films from around the world.
Not only do you get to see some amazing films (including plenty of shorts) that you’d otherwise possibly never see, but some of the directors attend the festival as well, bringing the opportunity to chat with them after the screening.
What’s on offer?
You can view the range of films being screened over on our event listings site, Events OnTheWight.
Travel back to the late 1990s with Guest House Paradiso – a comedy shot on the Isle of Wight starring Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson.
There’ll be thought-provoking dramas, such as Si-o-se Pol and Masterpiece, Keeping Rosy and SuperBob
There’s lots more on offer – just see the listings – or go to the Box Office to grab your tickets before they sell out.
