Osborne House is rumoured to be the location for the new feature film by Stephen Frears about the relationship between Queen Victoria and Abdul Karim, a young clerk who the Queen name “the Munshi” having travelled from India to take part in the Golden Jubilee.
Queen Victoria will be played by Dame Judi Dench and the Indian clerk will be played by a well-known actor from The Hobbit.
Casting now
A casting agency has been using the power of social media to recruit extras for the major feature film being.
The filming will take place in the autumn and the film is due to be released in 2017.
Using the Royal Collection
Camera crews have apparently been in residence at Osborne House for several weeks.
It’s understood that permission has been given for some of the hallowed Royal Collection to be used in the film.
A spokesperson for English Heritage told OnTheWight,
“It’s not true to say that camera crews have been in residence at Osborne for several weeks, however I can’t add any further comment.”
The Guardian spoke about plans for the film last month.
