An extract from the Midland Evening Peripheral. Submitted by Pappa Clip. Ed
Professional burglar, Mr Cyrus Taker, is seeking legal aid in order to sue Mr William Hume for grievous bodily assault.
His case is that as a habitual criminal he has the right to have any punishment inflicted upon his person to be the result of judicial verdict. And that Mr Hume, by allowing his dog, Mercy, to assault him was exceeding the bounds of reasonable force allowed in law.
The incident germane to this case occurred when Mr Take attempted to enter the private premises of Mr Hume in pursuit of his chosen profession.
Mr Take was arrested but subsequently released without charge because he had not actually penetrated the property in question and it could not therefore be proven beyond all reasonable doubt that he was there present with intent to commit any crime.
Mr Hume was arrested, charged and subsequently found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon, namely his pet corgi named Mercy.
Mr Hume is currently in prison for contempt of court.
