The Trust is inviting ALL current and retired nurses and Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) across the Island, irrespective of whether they are employed by the local NHS, to come and celebrate on the 12th May 2015, between 8:30am – 7.30pm at the Education Centre, St Mary’s Hospital.
Motivational discussion sessions
The event will share best practices and clinical expertise in caring for patients as well as current innovations. There will be a free networking breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea followed by a number of motivational discussion sessions – there is no need to book in advance. The three main sessions are:
- Happy Spine for Life – Physiotherapy Team
- Clinical practice and research: a culture shift in nursing and allied health by Dr Cathy Bowen, Associate Professor
- Linking Posture, Pressure & Function for better outcomes by Ruth Cooper
The world of social media
There will also be information on the world of social media and Twitter, an opportunity to try out an age simulation suit, meet the SIM family who are state-of-the-art simulation manikins for training staff and explore nursing revalidation and Healthcare Assistant Care Certification.
The event will run into the evening with a relaxed atmosphere, light refreshments and music from the NHS Nightingales from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
All current and retired nurses and AHPs welcome

“This day is a great opportunity for us to show our appreciation for all nurses and AHPs and truly celebrate the difference they make to the health and wellbeing of our patients.
“We welcome all current and retired nurses and AHPs, whether they currently work at St Mary’s Hospital, in the community, within Nursing homes, Dental or GP practices or have since retired and want to come and see how nursing has developed.
“This event is for them to come together and celebrate the dedication and hard work they have provided over the years.”
Sarah Johnston, continued:
“Last year was a great success. It not only gave the various professions the opportunity to hear about the latest developments but it was a chance to catch up with colleagues, past and present, meet new people, share experiences and celebrate success and innovation.”
