Ventnor based sausage maker, Paul Murphy, had a hop in his step last Friday, as he bagged himself two awards at Farmer Jack’s Big Sausage Competition.
According to the County Press, not only did he win the best newcomers award, but also best alternative sausage with his rabbit, bacon and thyme sausage.
By strange coincidence, there has been much discussion over on the forum about the lack of rabbits between Ventnor and Shanklin.
You might remember that we interviewed Paul last year at the Ventnor Brewery Christmas Fayre, when he explained where his ingredients come from and his plans for the future.
Podcast after the click.

Upon winning the awards, he told the CP, “I enjoy experimenting with flavours and combinations to offer something different to my customers, as well as the more traditional varieties.”
We adore Paul’s sausages and pick ours up from Mr Noah’s Green Grocers on Ventnor High Street, but you can also find Paul at the Vectis Food and Craft Market in St James’s Square, Newport, on Fridays and Brading car park on Wednesdays.
Btw, he also came second in the best pork sausage class with his Ma Barton banger, made from an old secret family recipe.
Well done Paul, two awards well deserved in our eyes.
