In the meeting held on 4 February in Andover Guildhall, residents also had a chance to ask questions. These included the speed of police response to terrorist incidents, the importance of Neighbourhood Watch and how the police are trained to deal with suicide and mental health issues.

Simon Hayes, Police and Crime Commissioner said:

“When I took my oath of office in 2012, I promised to ensure transparency of my decisions and open policing across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to more scrutiny than ever before.

“These public meetings form part of that promise. I challenge the police on a wide range of issues, which increases public understanding of policing today. At this meeting in Andover, among other issues, we discussed response times to 999 calls.”
