Thanks to Tom for this latest report from the Ryde Harriers. Ed
The Ryde Harriers’ super-vet took part in the British Masters half-marathon in Salisbury and set a fantastic time of 1:30:42 to take the vet 65 title.
Along with Pete there have been a selection of other Harriers taking part in a variety of other races recently.
Half marathon fever
Sally Roberts made her annual trip to the Bridlington half for a breezy run of 1:53 whilst Amanda Treadgold and Justin Fitzgerald headed to Holland for the Amsterdam half. Justin crossed the line with a great time of 1:31:28 and Amanda showed some returning fitness after a long time off racing with her finish time of 1:49.
Closer to home, Les Cupis showed no ill effects from his efforts at the IW marathon a fortnight ago to finish the tough but beautiful off-road Beachy Head marathon in 3:43.
Club night
The Harriers’ Tuesday night club meet continues to attract increasing numbers of new runners of a range of abilities, but it was two familiar faces who won the recent nominated five mile run.
Andy and Bridget Lewis have shown an amazing pacing ability over the last 12 months and this run was no exception with Andy taking first place only three seconds outside his nomination whilst Bridget was second thirteen seconds away with Karen Collett third.
Fastest on the night were new Harrier Adam Tuck and Tom Blackwell who crossed together in 30:48 with Sarah Kavanagh fastest women in 36:05.
