Quay Arts present an evening of exquisite classical music by PIKAP QUARTET in the Anthony Minghella Theatre on Saturday, 4th October at 8pm.
PiKap Quartet is a classical string quartet devoted to playing the music of Viennese masters including Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven.
Following the rich history of classical chamber music, their repertoire is enriched further by the music of Czech masters (Smetana, Dvořák, JanáÄek, Martinů) as well as contemporary music.
This ensemble includes a brilliant Plzeň violinist, Martin Kaplan, and members of the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra – violinist Lenka Å imandlová, viola player Miljo Milev and cellist Petr Pitra.
Three of the members studied music at the School of Music in Karlovy Vary, continuing at Plzeň Conservatory.
Petr Pitra studied first in Teplice and then he and Martin Kaplan broadened their musical education at the Academy of Music in Prague.
A rare chance to hear this celebrated Czech classical string quartet performing a programme at the Quay Arts which will include Shubert, Dvořák and works by the Czech composer Bohuslav Martinu.
