We heard a while back that residents of Pixley Hill, Freshwater and the surrounding area weren’t too happy about Southern Vectis after they started running the Number 7 route up and down the hill.
Indeed, 15 individual letters of complaint and a petition with ‘multiple signatures’ (not sure how many were on it) were sent to the Isle of Wight Council and the local member, Cllr Sutton, officially asked that the IWC look into it.
Most recently, the consideration of whether the council should commission a formal Road Safety Audit on the impact of the buses came forward to Peter Hayward, Head of Highway & Transport to make a recommendation with the decision to be made by Cllr Edward Giles under a delegated decision.
Recommendation published
The decision (Thanks to Cllr Giles for clarifying this one) recommendation has just been published, with it going against the idea, so for no formal Road Safety Audit will to be undertaken, unless the accident rate rises above the safety intervention level for Island roads.
