Police hunt for Isle of Wight hit and run driver

Police are appealing for witnesses to a fail to stop collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Newport, Isle of Wight.

At around 8:50am on Monday, October 3, a 16-year-old girl was crossing Trafalgar Road when she was hit by a car, which then drove off from the scene.

As a result, the girl suffered a minor shoulder injury.

The driver has been described as a white woman driving a four or five door silver Vauxhall Astra. There was a child in a car seat in the back of the vehicle.

The incident was reported to police on Wednesday, October 12.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who can help identify the vehicle involved.

PC Tom Wyld said:

“We are appealing for the driver of this vehicle to contact police as we would like to speak with you about the incident.

“Additionally, we would also like to hear from any members of the public who witnessed the incident, or can help us identify the vehicle involved.

“This happened on a busy road with lots of pedestrians and vehicles around going about their daily commute.”
