Update: Police have now identified the suspect and would like to thank members of the public for their assistance in helping to trace this person.
Police investigating an assault on a teenager in Newport on the Isle of Wight have released CCTV images of a man they wish question about the attack.
The incident occurred between 2.00am and 2.30am on Sunday, February 3, whilst an 18-year-old man was stood at the Number 9 bus stand at Newport Bus Station, talking on his mobile phone.
As he waited another man approached him and without provocation head butted the victim once to the face, leaving him with a bruised cheek and nose bleed.
Description of suspect
The suspect is described as:
A white man
18 – 20 years old
5ft 7ins – 5ft 8ins tall
Short blond spiky hair
Wearing a black gilet and yellow hoody
Haywood: “Unprovoked attack”
Investigating Officer PC Keith Haywood said: “This appears to be an unprovoked attack on someone who was making his way home after a night out with friends. We would like to talk to a woman who was waiting at the bus stand at the time of the assault and stepped in between the pair.”
