Trevor shares this special plea with OnTheWight readers. Ed
Isle of Wight Festival promoter, John Giddings, has invited Trevor Blaney to pitch up with the Pop-Up Soup Kitchen food trailer at this year’s event in June (following a plea on Social Media from supporters!).
Trevor said the event organizers have been “helpful and amazing”, adding,
“The awareness and funds raised from these will go a long way to supporting the Island’s homeless and vulnerable next winter. We have now been granted official charity status and as the summer rolls on we will be working on a strategic plan of how donations will best be utilized to sustain more long-term support.
“The logistics of cooking for so many potential customers is daunting … I need literally thousands of jacket potatoes to serve with hundreds of litres of chilli. But the preparation and timing is all going to plan, with the Isle of Wight college stepping in to help with some of our menu.”
Can you help?
Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsburys and Barrow Boys, Ryde have all been very helpful and are donating large quantities, but we’re a little short on eggs at the moment.
If any other businesses can help with any produce, please get in touch, we need to raise as much money as possible to improve the quality of our Less Fortunate Community.
